To receive reaccreditation, the department must undergo a multi-year process that includes a detailed self-study and an on-site visit by peer evaluators who assess the department’s curriculum, faculty, facilities and student work. The process ends with a formal review, and reaccreditation is determined by NASAD’s Commission on Accreditation.

According to the release, accreditation represents a “nationally recognized standard of excellence in visual arts and design education”, and “strengthens (students’) professional qualifications for a career in the art and design industry.”

“Our reaccreditation with NASAD is a testament to the quality of our art and design faculty, the strength of our programs, and the success of our students and alumni,” Weller-Stilson said.
