Lowes Court Gallery in Egremont has announced Rachel Metcalfe as its featured artist.
A spokesperson said: “A West Cumbrian artist who explores a place through the experience of walking, she records her walking journeys through sketches made on location and then translates those drawings into paintings using a range of media.”
Rachel said: ” I constantly seek new perspectives – peeling back the layers of a place to discover something new.”
The spokesperson continued: “Rachel’s recent series of paintings, on display at Lowes Court Gallery throughout March, represent her colourful interpretations of the varied landscapes of West Cumbria.
“Painted in her free flowing, expressive style, her work ranges from the rugged mountain tops to the beautiful, wild and isolated beaches.”
Rachel will be at Lowes Court for ‘Meet the Artist’ on Saturday, March 15.
The feature wall is on view from now until Saturday, March 29.
The Gallery (on Main Street, Egremont) also stocks a wide range of locally produced arts and crafts, including paintings and photographs by other gallery artists, prints and cards, textiles, glassware, jewellery, ceramics, and wood.
