The Gallery Yr Oriel Newport Pembs is getting ready for the launch of the annual event, which starts on Saturday, March 15, from 3pm.

New works from artists across Wales are being brought to the gallery in Newport ahead of the opening of the event.

Welsh Art Week is an opportunity for west Wales artists to display their latest works to a wide audience, all in one location.

The gallery, known for its modern space, will present an extensive array of more than 60 artists’ works, featuring paintings, sculptures, jewellery, and woodwork.

The event organisers have expressed the importance of this showcase and have extended a warm welcome to art enthusiasts to visit and experience the works on display.

The opening event will feature Welsh harpist Marian O’Toole, who will be followed by acclaimed author Jack Smylie Wild.

Mr Smylie Wild will read from his most recent book, ‘Land is Medicine, Love is Wild’.

Ms O’Toole will then return to play more traditional Welsh music.

The gallery plans to serve refreshments, including wine and Welsh cakes, and extends an open invitation to all interested parties.

The exhibition lasts for a week, closing on Saturday, March 22.

The gallery is open from Monday to Saturday, between 10am to 4.30pm.

Some of the notable artists with pieces in the exhibition include Anne Kerr, Peter Morgan, Tanya Russell, Michel Mousseau and Jacqueline Jones.

Also amongst the artists is Neil Mason, Zara Kuchi, Daniel Backhouse, Wim Van de Wege, Annette de Mestre, and Neill Curran.

The event, held annually, provides a broad spectrum of unique and diverse art pieces.

The gallery is anticipating a surge in visitors, including both art enthusiasts and those looking to appreciate the work of Wales’s artists.
