Artudio, in collaboration with Aakar Foundation, is set to inaugurate its newly opened Patan Wing with the pop-up exhibition ‘[un]seen’, featuring artworks by artists with autism. The exhibit, curated by Kailash K Shrestha, will be on view from November 22 to 25 from 11 am to 5 pm.
The exhibition will feature a range of artworks, including drawings, paintings, and installations, reflecting the individuality and creativity of participating artists. The Patan Wing has been curated to ensure accessibility and provide an immersive viewing experience.
Curator Shrestha shares that Artudio and the Aakar Foundation have recently been collaborating to support and empower young people with autism. As part of this effort, he says, the organisations have been running workshops in partnership with Autism Care Nepal Society to help develop artistic skills and confidence among neuro-diverse young learners.
Shrestha notes that, with Artudio inaugurating its newly opened Patan Wing, “the team felt it was meaningful to celebrate the occasion with these special young artists and acknowledge the capacities they already hold.” He explains that the initiative seeks to “recognise their abilities, build their artistic strength, and respectfully bring them into the mainstream art scene,” rather than approaching them through a lens of limitation.
