Bridges of Light, a new event produced by Severn Arts, will illuminate Worcester city centre on October 29 and 30 from 6pm to 9pm.
The festival will feature light installations, interactive artworks, and a city centre light trail, all designed to highlight community stories through creative expression.
Laura Worsfold, CEO of Severn Arts, said: “We are really excited about our new festival, Bridges of Light, and our programme of collaboratively produced light artwork which we will be presenting over the two nights to illuminate Worcester’s city centre.
“Thanks to funding from Arts Council England, we have been able to develop many wonderful new opportunities for our creative professionals to work collaboratively with Worcester’s communities, creating a truly inspiring programme of high-quality artwork for everyone to enjoy.”
The festival theme reflects both literal and metaphorical connections between people and heritage, brought to life through installations created with community involvement.
Professional artists will be working with community groups in the lead-up to the festival to develop the artworks that will be on display.
Highlights include Shadow Dance by Impossible Arts, which invites visitors to dance in the streets, and Stitching Light আল ো দিল়ে গোাঁ থো by Emergency Exit Arts, a textile and light installation exploring the migration of Bangladeshi women to the UK.
The full programme will be announced in the coming weeks.
Bridges of Light is free, open to all ages, and does not require tickets.
Severn Arts is also seeking volunteers to support the event on both nights.
