The Owensboro Museum of Fine Art is reaching out to the public with “Taste and See,” an event scheduled for every Wednesday from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Jason Edward Hayden, the museum’s executive director, said the event will feature a different food truck each week.
People can come to the museum, get food and eat in the shade behind the Medley Decorative Arts Wing, formerly known as the John Hampden Smith House.
Hayden said the area is always shaded, but there are tables with umbrellas there just in case.
He said ACME Chicken Bowls will be this week’s food truck.
Each week, the name of the food truck will be listed on the museum’s social media pages and its website, Hayden said.
He said the event will be good for families wanting a picnic and for people looking for new places for date nights.
“We want to reach more people and make the museum more welcoming,” Hayden said.
He said people can visit the museum as part of the “Taste and See” experience.
There is no admission charge.
The museum will be open until 7 p.m. on those nights.
“’Taste and See’ is a way for people to enjoy the museum in a new way,” Hayden said.
Normal hours at the museum, 901 Frederica St., are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. on weekends.
The museum opened in 1977.
Its permanent collection, showcased in two wings, contains more than 4,000 objects of world art dating from the 15th-century to the present.
Hayden recently announced plans to raze the old house at 214 W. Ninth St., and build the ArtLand 2 Education Annex there.
