Now it’s been named among the best seasude towns in the North West. We analysed seaside towns across England and Wales and ranked them according to key factors to find the best ones.
A shortlist of 114 seaside towns was drawn up based on those awarded either a Blue Flag or a Seaside Award for their beaches this year.

Then data was collected for each town on the number of hot days, summer rainfall, Google Reviews ratings of all seafront fish and chip shops, the number of pubs, and the amount of antisocial behaviour crimes recorded last summer.
Each seaside town was then ranked on each of these factors, and then ranked on their overall performance to reveal the best places to visit.
Morecambe was included in the top five seaside towns in the north west, alongside Lytham St Annes, Blackpool, Cleveleys and Fleetwood.
Located on the edge of Morecambe Bay, Morecambe offers gorgeous views not just out to see but of the nearby lakeland fells.

It has a long, sweeping promenade beside a sandy beach perfect for picnics. Although the town’s location on the edge of Morecambe Bay means the area is subject to fast tides and quick sand so beachgoers need to pay attention to the tides and sea conditions.
Along the beachfront are various shops, cafes and restaurants, along with several hotels including The Midland, a a Grade II*-listed Art Deco hotel built in the 1930s, featuring a striking white curving exterior and quirky design features inside.
Another Art Deco gem you’ll come across in the town is Brucciani’s Ice Cream and Coffee, which has been serving tasty treats for 100 years, including the iconic Knickbocker Glory.
A must-do is a walk along the stone jetty which stretches out to sea and offers views across the bay. You’ll also see the famous statue of Eric Morecambe, who grew up in the town – and even made it his stage name.
