If you love discovering art that makes you stop mid-step, this year’s Art by Design is the place to be. In addition to the fabulous vignettes and curated events, seven Memphis art galleries are bringing their distinct voices to the show, offering guests a fresh way to experience creative, contemporary art. Here’s a closer look at the Memphis galleries exhibiting at Art by Design on March 25 through 29, 2026!

Goetze Art & Design

“At Goetze Art & Design, we believe collecting art should feel personal, approachable, and inspiring —never intimidating,” says owner Amanda Goetze. “We see ourselves as a trusted guide for our clients, working alongside them as they discover pieces that truly resonate.”

The gallery guides clients through the entire art-purchasing journey, from selecting the right piece to framing and coordinating installation. Goetze is known for creating an easy, seamless experience for seasoned collectors and newcomers alike.

Goetze’s exhibit at Art by Design will highlight the collaboration between art and design — a connection that feels like a perfect fit, Amanda adds. “Art by Design brings so many creatives under one roof. It’s such a special celebration of Memphis’ rich design and creative community. That energy is a highlight for us!”

Shapeshifter Art School & Gallery

Shapeshifter Art School & Gallery is not just a venue for displaying artwork. Offering a unique combination of both educational and exhibition opportunities, the space is home to artists who mentor as well as create.

“Because we are both a gallery and an art school, the work on our walls is part of a living ecosystem,” says director, co-founder, and teacher Pam McDonnell. “Ideas tested in the classroom return to the studio. Studio discoveries return to students. Exhibitions are not separate from teaching — they are extensions of it.”

Participating in Art by Design gives Shapeshifter the opportunity to show how thoughtfully placed 3D artwork can shift a room from styled to alive. “Sculpture, ceramic, and dimensional forms do not simply occupy space; they alter it. They change the way a room feels, how the eye moves, how the body navigates, and how light behaves,” says Pam. Image: Shapeshifter Art School & Gallery

At this year’s Art by Design, Shapeshifter’s exhibition showcases the way three-dimensional work can transform lived-in spaces just as profoundly as two-dimensional art.

“Too often, 3D work is treated as secondary to painting in residential environments,” explains Pam. “We are eager to challenge that assumption. Three-dimensional art invites intimacy. It can be circled, encountered from multiple perspectives, and integrated into daily rituals of living.”

Sheet Cake Gallery

With its playful name and sharp curatorial eye, Sheet Cake Gallery has quickly earned a reputation for presenting bold, contemporary work that sparks dialogue. The gallery works with artists across a wide range of styles and media — but they all have one thing in common.

“We are all about elevating the work of artists based in and connected to the South through our exhibition program at the gallery and participating in art fairs around the country,” says owner Lauren Kennedy.

And we love ARTSmemphis and what they do to support the arts in Memphis,” says Lauren.

Studiohouse on Malvern

Studiohouse on Malvern is a working artist’s studio that invites the public in for special events and private viewings. Located in a rehabbed mid-century house in the Crosstown neighborhood, Studiohouse has a special history in the city and offers a unique, welcoming way to experience the artist lifestyle up close and personal.

At Art by Design, you can find work by co-owners, Memphis-based artist Mary Jo Karimina and Bolivian-American artist Keiko Gonzalez. “We are thrilled to put Studiohouse on Malvern onto the designer map in Memphis by showing our work at Art by Design — while supporting the great work that ARTSmemphis does in our city,” says Mary Jo.

“We can’t wait to meet everyone and introduce ourselves to the public at this fabulous, fun event!” says Mary Jo. We look forward to a colorful, eye-catching installation from Studiohouse on Malvern. Image: Studiohouse on Malvern

T Clifton Gallery

Approachable, design-forward T Clifton Gallery sets a sophisticated, metropolitan tone.

“Walking into T Clifton means stepping into a thoughtfully curated gallery with the kind of creative energy that inspires,” says co-owner Pat Brown. “Find the art that anchors the room and elevates the home. Discover the unexpected. From statement-making fine art glass to mixed media paintings by nationally collected artists, our gallery walls are layered with intention.”

For Art by Design 2026, the team at T Clifton is especially inspired by how the event showcases art not as an afterthought, but as the defining element of a space.

“We are honored to contribute to the conversation about the transformative role art plays in beautifully designed interiors,” says Pat. “This event brings together designers alongside new and seasoned art collectors, while celebrating the paramount role ARTSmemphis plays in our city.” Image: T Clifton Gallery

The Ugly Art Co.

Bold and unapologetically creative, The Ugly Art Co. champions individuality and artistic freedom. As an artist-run space, the gallery has the flexibility to showcase local and emerging talent in a welcoming, accessible environment — all without compromising its commitment to presenting high-quality work.

“Over the years, we’ve known many people — gallerists, artists, and interior designers alike — who have spoken highly of Art By Design, and we’re thrilled to be participating this year,” says founder and artist Anderson Goin. “At Ugly Art Co., we’re deeply invested in how artwork operates within lived environments, not just static or institutional ones. We see Art By Design as an exciting opportunity to bridge the space between the gallery and the home.”
