CHICO, Calif. — Calling all artists!! The City of Chico and the City Arts Commission want artists to design artwork for city utility boxes.
According to City officials, the Utility Box Program will initially focus on the historic Downtown Chico area, with plans to expand citywide.
The Call for Artists opened on Oct. 14 and lasts until Dec. 18, 2024. The Arts Commission will then select the art pieces for the utility wraps.
Officials said the artwork should reflect Chico’s character and be suitable for the theme and location.
The program is funded by donations. The City said they are seeking sponsors to cover the costs of the utility box wraps. Anyone interested can contact the City Clerk’s Office at (530) 896-7250 for more info.
