With exclusive access and the keys to secret rooms in hand, Lucy Worsley explores four iconic palaces around Europe in a new four-part series from BBC Arts and PBS, produced by BBC Studios.
Lucy Worsley’s Keys to the Castle (w/t) opens up the hidden rooms, sealed archives and private spaces, to uncover the untold stories behind the buildings and the people who lived in them.
Across four episodes, Lucy unlocks the secrets of Britain’s majestic Blenheim Palace (birthplace of Winston Churchill); the glittering Versailles Palace in France – and one of its most infamous residents, Queen Marie Antoinette; the fairytale castle Neuschwanstein in Germany; and Venice’s intriguing Doge’s Palace.
While these spectacular palaces host millions of visitors every year, Lucy Worsley’s Keys To The Castle (w/t) will be no ordinary tour. Instead, she will guide viewers through the architecture, design, art, personal treasures and artefacts found in the spaces the public rarely get to see, to reveal a fascinating and surprising take on some of history’s most important events, and the people who lived through them.
Lucy Worsley says: “This is my dream project, and I can’t believe how lucky I am! I’ve had years of being behind the scenes at various castles and palaces and know how much fun it can be, and I really hope to share that with viewers.”
