TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The Arts Commission and the City of Toledo’s Parks Department are searching for artists to create designs for the new shoot-around court at Inez Nash Park.
Organizers say a Design Review Board will select three artists/teams to propose complete designs for the surface of the shoot-around court and each of the five backboards. The court measures 50 feet by 30 feet, or approximately 1170-square-feet
Each finalist will earn a stipend of $2,000.
“We are looking for artists that have experience with integrating public art into park environments as well as incorporating community input in the creative process,” said the Arts Commission.
According to organizers, the project is open to all artists in the U.S. who are 18 years of age or older. Artists teams are eligible to apply, including teams of artists from multiple disciplines.
Those who are eligible must submit qualifications online via the Arts Commission website.
The following is the timeline for the project:
- Aug. 21: Request for Qualifications Launch
- Sept. 24: Deadline for RFQ Submissions
- Sept. 25: Review of Applications Begins
- Oct. 17: Finalists Notified
- Oct. 29: Finalists Visit Site
- Dec. 3: Finalists Present Proposals
- Dec. 17: Winning Proposals Announced
The winning proposals will be installed in 2025.
