An Australian woman has shared how she transformed a $10 Kmart canvas into a chic work of art.
Chareen needed two pieces to hang above her bedside tables but didn’t want to fork out more than $350 each for the ones she was after.
Using three small tubs of multi-purpose filler and one tin of water-based polyurethane gloss, she started painting the two canvases to look like the pricey artwork she originally wanted.

Her post on a popular Facebook group attracted hundreds of likes and dozens of comments praising her handy hack and sharing their own DIY décor ideas.
‘This is such a creative idea, I have seen someone else do this but added a few swipes of colour,’ said one woman.
‘I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now as I love these pieces but not the price tag,’ a second wrote.
Another user noted some people are selling their DIY artworks on Facebook Marketplace for more than $100.
While most people thought Chareen’s artworks were a fantastic idea, others were not as impressed.
‘She’s done a great job but I don’t get it’ one woman wrote.
‘I love a beautiful piece of art but this does nothing for me,’ another replied.

Thousands of Aussies have been sharing their own Kmart hacks on social media.
Mum-of-one Camilla had never attempted a home project before but impressed thousands by transforming a Kmart side table into a luxurious high-end piece of furniture that cost a mere $169.20.
The $39 Egon Side Drawer originally had black legs and wood-like laminate, but Camilla transformed the look using oak half round moulds and white paint.
Similar designs from expensive brands can cost up to $599 per cabinet.
