LOGAN, Utah — The Annual Graduate Exhibition returns this fall, showcasing work from graduate students in the Art + Design department.
The exhibition features a diverse range of mediums reflecting the dynamic nature of contemporary art at Utah State University, including:
- Ceramics.
- Printmaking.
- Sculpture.
- Photography.
- Interior Architecture + Design.
- Graphic Design.
Since its founding in the early 1980s, the Annual Graduate Exhibition has served as an essential platform for graduate students to present their work to the public. The exhibition changes each year as new students bring innovative approaches to their respective fields.?
The exhibition provides a glimpse into the various projects and methods each student is exploring. Eleven graduate students are contributing to the exhibition, each representing different artistic disciplines and stages of their program.?
“I’m particularly excited to see the work of those in their final year,” said Nikita Nenashev, MFA student. “I am very excited to see the work of my fellow ceramics graduates Paige Harper and Karina Mago, who are both currently making work for their thesis exhibitions.”
Installing their pieces in the gallery provides students with valuable curatorial experience, helping them prepare for their final thesis presentations. The exhibition also gives students new insights into their work as it is displayed in a professional setting, outside of their usual studio environment.
Many of the participants are also instructors in the Art + Design department, and this exhibition gives the wider community, including their students, an opportunity to see their professors’ work in an entirely new context.
“Every graduate enters their program having lived their own experience and artistic journey, and through our programs our work is changing and growing every semester,” Nenashev said. “Many of us teach classes here at USU, this exhibition gives our students a chance to see our work.”
The exhibition will be open to the public from Nov. 4 to Dec. 13 at the Tippetts & Eccles Galleries, with an opening reception scheduled for Nov. 7. Visitors will have the chance to meet the artists and celebrate their work. For more details, visit this website.
