Officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) worked to safely remove a deer that barged into an art gallery in Lake City, Florida, on Wednesday, October 23.

Footage captured by an employee of Gateway Art Gallery shows authorities preparing the deer for transport.

According to a Facebook post, an artist named Lisa Eikenberry was manning the gallery when the buck “crashed” through the front door. The deer was tranquilized and safely removed from the building.

The gallery said officials told them the behavior was likely related to rutting season, which just started.

“It’s pretty common for bucks to do silly things to impress the girls,” Gateway Art Gallery wrote. “He may have seen his own handsome reflection in the mirror and thought another male was in his territory!”

The gallery said the buck knocked some items over, but didn’t break anything. Credit: Gateway Art Gallery / Sheila Carr via Storyful
