To give the house further soul and depth, Sebti sought out artisanal and vintage pieces from the Morocco-born (and now Dubai-based) design destination Clay Concept to furnish the rooms. “Each item had to carry a story or reflect a specific savoir-faire,” she notes. The collection of furniture, lighting and decorative pieces that she amassed includes 1970s Arflex sconces, Modernist pieces by Knoll, and a mix of contemporary Italian and Danish brands such as &Tradition, Tacchini and Gubi. To this, she added rare vintage finds, handmade decorative objects and candles that bring warmth to the environment. “We were lucky to have the time to layer the rooms without rushing,” she says. “It gave space for reflection and adjustment, and allowed the house to mature organically.”
Sebti’s careful curation enhances the understated design language of the house, and introduces the occasional judicious splash of colour. “What brings me the most pride is having created a home where modern design and heritage architecture happily coexist,” she says of the project, which took place over the course of a year. “It’s a space that feels collected over time, not decorated all at once.
