Marvel fans are buzzing after newly surfaced concept art revealed an unused design of M.O.D.O.K. for Ant-Man 3. Artist Aleksi Briclot shared the images on Instagram, showing an alternate take on the villain.

Marvel fans can’t understand why this Modok design was ignored for Ant-Man 3

Sharing the design on Instagram, Aleksi Briclot explained, “Attempt to make him really scary, with a twist revealing the usual comics look of the character. First it was looking like a bulky warrior silhouette, going to the roots: Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing and then revealing another surprising appearance.”

The concept featured a more intimidating version of the character, with elements inspired by his comic book design. Briclot added, “I dive in to it and tried to serve the idea of a reveal of this character: making him look like a frightening death machine and then working on a more childish feel, according to the look of Modok in the comics.”

Fans quickly noticed the contrast between the concept and the final design used in the film. One user commented, “DUDE I HATE WHEN ARTIST SHOW CONCEPT ART OF THAT’S WAY BETTER THAN WHAT WE GOT IN THE MOVIE YOU ARE A GEM MISTER MARVEL SHOULD LISTEN MORE TO YOU.” Another wrote, “The movie would’ve been a whole lot better if they added this.”

Other fans echoed similar reactions, pointing out the unused design’s darker tone. “That is way cleaver, use the yellow jacket body and have modoks head control it that’s awesome,” a follower said. Another added, “His head here looks incredible. I like that he looks like he’s decaying. Comic accuracy be damned, I love the way the MODOK body looks here.”

Comments criticized the film’s final portrayal, with one user calling it “the stretched face spy kids thing” and another noting it “missed that messed up face Modok is known for.” The post gained over 4,100 likes in three days, with many praising Briclot’s darker interpretation.
