Ralph Steadman, born in Wallasey, is known for his unique style and his collaboration with writer and journalist Hunter S. Thompson on his classic novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
As well as Steadman, Alice Oseman (Heartstopper), R.W. Alley (Paddington), Axel Scheffler (The Gruffalo), Guy Parker-Rees (Giraffes Can’t Dance), and Jason Cockcroft (Harry Potter), are all auctioning a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork for national charity Epilepsy Action, as part of the final celebrations of National Doodle Day 2025.
Some of the works are valued up to £3,000, with a raffle ticket entry costing £10.
Michael King, Doodle Day Lead at Epilepsy Action, said: “We’re so excited to give away these incredible artworks to some very lucky winners and we’re so grateful to all the artists who have so kindly donated their beautiful works.
“The raffle costs just £10 per ticket and all of the proceeds come directly to Epilepsy Action, to help the charity deliver it’s life-changing services, including its helpline or Talk & Support groups.
“Every National Doodle Day we receive an amazing amount of beautiful artworks and doodles, and these do sell for a lot of money, particularly those with big names behind them such as Sir Ian McKellen or Dame Joanna Lumley.
“At Epilepsy Action, inclusion is a strong value of ours, and the raffle is a great opportunity to make some of our one-of-a-kind artworks more widely available.
“Despite being one of the most common conditions in the UK, many people with epilepsy often feel isolated and misunderstood, and this is something that Epilepsy Action is striving to change.
“Opportunities like the raffle allow us to reach out to those audiences who might not have a connection to epilepsy.
“We hope that whilst purchasing raffle tickets, people may also take a few minutes out of their day to read our website and learn about epilepsy, helping us to be one step closer to creating a World Without Limits for people with epilepsy.”
The raffles open on Monday, October 13 and will remain open for around a month. Tickets can be purchased via https://www.epilepsy.org.uk/raffle.
