The annual event, considered one of the museum’s signature celebrations of art and design, drew record attendance from across the region during its two-day schedule of events held April 30 and May 1.
More than 400 guests attended Cocktails in the Courtyard on Thursday evening, marking the largest attendance in the event’s history. The following day’s Design NC Forum & Luncheon also sold out, featuring acclaimed designers and authors Marshall Watson and Blue Carreon.
Together, the events brought artists, designers, collectors, community leaders, and museum supporters together in support of CAM’s mission and future growth.
“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the extraordinary response to Design NC 2026,” said Karen Franck. “This year’s record-breaking attendance and support reflect the incredible strength of our creative community and a shared belief in the power of art, design, and cultural connection.”
Franck said the turnout for both events demonstrated the community’s ongoing commitment to the museum and its role in the region’s cultural landscape.
Heather Wilson said Design NC continues to grow because of strong community support and highlighted the importance of the fundraiser to the museum’s operations and outreach.
“This event reflects the power of art and design to bring people together while directly supporting CAM’s ability to serve our region through exhibitions, arts education, and dynamic public programming,” Wilson said.
As a nonprofit institution, Cameron Art Museum relies heavily on support from donors, sponsors, members, and community partners to sustain its programming. Museum officials noted that CAM does not receive support from an umbrella organization, making community investment essential to maintaining exhibitions, arts education opportunities, and public programming for audiences across the eight-county region it serves.
